Hi Everyone,
This is looking good for the weekend of 8th / 9th August, in Southampton.
The idea for the weekend is buoys! The intention will be to launch a 'flotilla' of ukhasnet buoys into the Solent on the Sunday. Many possibilities from simple battery-powered sensors, to solar repeaters, and floating gateways!
Draft Schedule
The plan is to build/hack things on the Saturday, in University Campus. We'll be using a standard classroom-style room, with lots of desks and a projector, so you'll need to bring your own construction/test gear. Internet will be available for non-students as well as via eduroam.
On Sunday we'll then head down to the coast, and sort out some maritime transport (perhaps a kayak), to take the buoys out into the Solent. We'll use radio comms to verify operation of the buoys at distance, and then release them, and watch the flotilla drift. This would be best timed for the tide to take them out into the wider water :)
This is of course dependent on weather, so we'll have the University room booked for the whole weekend.
Accommodation
Unfortunately University Halls Accommodation is handled through the University's Hospitality Dept. for conferences and is not cost effective for a small group.
A couple of us may be able to offer floor/sofa space locally, else there are a few hotels dotted around, and transport to/from stations and hotels may be possible if requested.
Other Notes
See the work-in-progress workshop page at: https://www.ukhas.net/wiki/workshops:southampton2015 for more details. Catch us on #ukhasnet if you have any questions or ideas.
Look forward to seeing you there!
Phil

Hi All,
Matt has sorted the H&S paperwork, and the University Room is now booked, so we are go! One condition is that we cannot use our own soldering irons or extension leads, so these will be provided.
If you find a good deal on accommodation, please do let other people know, and put it on the wiki page so we can all make the most of it.

Happy Meshing,
