#highaltitude and #habhub

I have registered on this IRC channels but I can't see anything when I log in. Is it just because they aren't being used or am I missing something obvious. When I log in to #highaltitude this is all I can see:

IRC servers don't retain messages, they just forward them to everyone that is connected at the time that the message is posted. You will only see messages that have been posted since you connected, the last one to #highaltitude was at 12:13

There are services available that will stay connected to IRC channels and store the messages for you, I use irccloud.
