Hi Folks - thanks to everyone that tracked XABEN44 today - the flight went to plan and recovery was a doodle (in the corner of a field easily visible from the road). We got there about 3mins after it landed.

Anyway we enjoyed it so much we decided to do it all again tomorrow.
Details mostly as today:

434.250MHz
Callsign: XABEN1
600Hz shift, 50baud, 7N1 ASCII

Launch from the same site - time to be decided.

Thanks to everyone that tracked today - even more listeners this time. The flight went to plan and was very similar to yesterday - except there was even more wind, cold and some snow :-(

We were lucky enough to see the payload land in the next field along from where we parked.

We got some excellent results from the 4 x GoPro3 cameras on both flights - no problems with early shutdown reported by others. Noticeably better pictures from the GoPro3s (than the 1 or 2) - better motion handling, higher bitrate, and better handling of brightness changes - although I did notice a bit more lens flare when the sun was edge on to the camera.

Hi Folks,
I'm expecting to launch a flight out of Elsworth on Sunday - probably PM based on current predictions.

The flight should be carrying the same tracker I have used on the last few flights:

434.250MHz
Callsign: XABEN1
600Hz shift, 50baud, 7N1 ASCII

Also a Max7/RFM22b 1.8V based tracker:

434.300MHz
Callsign: XABEN1
470Hz shift, 50baud, 7N1 ASCII

Steve

Any listeners would be appreciated.

XABEN46 was safely recovered today. It had landed on the very top of a 60ft sycamore tree in the middle of a wood - hopelessly beyond the reach of my poles. Fortunately it was managed woodland and owner was OK with cutting the tree down. I got a tree surgeon to come out to the site this morning.

The recovery was rather eventful - the tree was cut down - but as it fell the payload (& chute etc) was deposited on the top of an oak tree. So next the oak tree was climbed and one of the payload lines hooked - but in the process of pulling it down the camera box ended up in another tree and wouldn't budge. Finally that tree was cut down and the whole lot recovered. A couple of the boxes were a little worse for ware - but they should fly again.

I don't know why the uXABEN MAX7 based tracker locked up - I will try it again later. How was its signal strength in comparison with the main tracker (XABEN1)?

Thanks to everyone who helped with the tracking.
