Hello, quite a simple question I hope:
what are the most advisable techinques/tools for recording a video clip durig a flight?
I was thinking of using one of the GoPro clones for the whole duration of the flight (compatibly with the duration of battery charge) but I received doubtful comments about battery efficiency at altitude, risk of condensation/icing on the lens, etc..
Any experience/indication?
Thanks

We used a GoPro, but we put it in the waterproof case with  anti-fogging strips, and that worked fine for us

We also used various 360 degree cameras, I think we're on the Life360s at the moment

Battery wise, we would usually fully charge the cameras right up until it was time to sort the payload, and the 360 cameras we ran off a USB powerbank (look for one that doesn't shut down when a device is barely pulling any current (we went with some Belkin models)

I don't know what battery chemistry is in our GoPro's - but they worked fine for all our flights...and the powerbank was encased within the payload (we've been using polystyrene spheres of recent) it was insulated, but also had some handwarmers inside to keep the temperature at the ideal point!

Thanks Mark, that sounds encouraging. However, I think we'll opt for one of the cheaper GoPro clones. The original GoPros are too expensive to risk losing one in an unrecoverable landing.

No problems Daniele, and fully understood.

Might still be worth looking if there's a weatherproof case/anti-fogging strips for the clones, I doubt the anti-fog strips are patented (happy to be corrected) - you may be able to pop them in the case with your clone (they're not big at all)

You could always pop it in the freezer to see how it handles the temperature extremes
