Hi Tom / All

Firstly thanks very much all (but especially the organisers and presenters) for a great conference, great to meet some of you at last.

Thanks very much also to Tom for coming such a long way to see us - and also for bringing some RS41 Sondes to give away.

Just trying to look at what to reprogram them with for UK HAB.

There seems to be 3 lots of code out there that I could find - om3bc, df8oe and darksidelemm. Do you recommend / use use one of those Tom, or something else?

Thanks very much
Kev

Hi, DF8OE has broken checksum so I was not able to create a payload doc for it. OM3BC requires after flashing with an st-link programmer the connection of an USB to serial convertor to set frequency, callsigns and parameters, we did one flight with that pyaload but multiple repeats of the same telemetry string.

darksidelemm's no experience with, I allways fall back to stm32_rtty_master which never let us down.

Just my 2 cents :-)

I have to correct that a bit, one hour ago DF8OE made a correction in the source to fix the broken checksum :-)

Mine (darksidelemm) is more targeted at the 4FSK binary mode. It'll still do RTTY if you configure it appropriately, but I've only ever flown it transmitting 4FSK, which works fine.

Thanks PE2BZ,

Is that the original by yanosik - https://github.com/yanosik/STM32_RTTY or the modified by Qyon - https://github.com/Qyon/STM32_RTTY?

Thanks very much

In fact I've made a proof-of-concept in feb 2016:

even with SSDV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfugrVBCA98

We've launched reprogrammed RS41 from UKHAS 2016 conference.

I haven't  published the sources because of some legal reasons (now
evertyhing is clear).

I need some time to cleanup my code and publish it - but it will be open
source.

Thanks Tom, looking forward to seeing it.

In the mean time, I have documented my journey so far with the RS41's here:

https://ukhas.org.uk/projects:jimbob:radiosonde

Hopefully that is of use to others playing with them for the first time.

Now to sort out launching one ;)

Cheers
Kev
