Hello
My name is Kirsty and I'm an assistant producer on the Special Projects team for the Jeremy Kyle show. My reason for contacting you is that we are currently putting together a programme, which aims to provide a forum for debate about the Porn Industry and some of the controversial issues surrounding it.
We've invited a wide variety of people to be involved in this programme from men/women who are currently working in the porn industry, young women who believe their only way of finding fame is to be a porn star, to friends and family who are totally opposed to the business as well as people who have been left mentally and physically scarred because of this type of industry.
And we would like to invite you and/or a fellow representative from Birmingham Feminist Networks on the show to speak out against the industry.
As I mentioned earlier, the Special Projects programmes are like a different programme/strand altogether. These programmes are concerned with more controversial/sensitive subject matter or themes that do not fit in with the traditional Jeremy Kyle brand. Furthermore, the Special Project shows are markedly different in aim, approach, style and format to the traditional Kyle you see at 9.25am.
These programmes are not designed around conflict resolution between people but to investigate current issues and highlight awareness about a variety of topics or the work of extraordinary people.
They differ in the fact that they are researched and filmed over a much longer period of time and although on this occasions filming will be held in the warmth of the studio, it often takes place outside the studio or in a variety of locations.
The presentation style focuses round one to one interviews and discussions with Jeremy so the contributors are not put under as much stress or pressure. If people feel uncomfortable at any point then we can break filming and give them a bit of time out and will be ultra sensitive to the requests and concerns of contributors.
Furthermore, I understand that some of these issues will be incredibly difficult for people to talk about. I can assure you that we provide a very high standard of counselling and extensive care and support to all our contributors before, during and after the show for as long as is reasonably necessary.
This show is scheduled to be filmed on Wednesday, November 5th and if you decide to take part in the programme, we will pay for all travel, accommodation and other expenses arising from the project.
I believe my colleague Clare Almond has also sent you an email on this subject. Please could you email me or call me on 0161 9520784 if you have any questions or are interested/not interested in taking part.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely
Kirsty

Hi Katie
Thank you for getting back to me so soon. I was wondering if you've heard back from any of your fellow feminists about coming on our show to talk out against the pornography industry as I've not received any emails or calls on the subject and the show is being filmed this Wednesday. As I mentioned in my earlier email ITV will pay for travel expenses and overnight stay in a hotel for those who are taking part.
I look forward to hearing from you…or someone from the feminist groups very soon.
Kind regards
Kirsty

Dear Kirsty,
I have forwarded your message to the rest of the Birmingham Feminists, as well as Object, and UK Feminist Bloggers, and will now post about it on the facebook group. Hopefully someone will be able to help you as it is an important issue and I look forward to seeing the final product! Unfortunately I personally am not available on that day but hopefully some people will be - especially those who live in London.
Best of luck.
Kind regards,
Katie McGrainor

We film in Manchester and if it meant someone taking a day off work, then I can cover loss of earnings as well as travel costs. We have a couple of representatives from Object coming on the show but I think your organisation would also play a vital part.
Kind regards
Kirsty

Hi again Kirsty,
Not heard back off anyone yet sorry - although I have put your message out again to the groups I am part of. The problem with mid-week filming is that a lot of us work or study. Where will it be filmed? This might give me a better idea of specific people that I can try to recruit.
Kind regards,
Katie
