Hi katie,
thanks for your e mail.
The book is called Sour face by MJ Cox. It's published by the mental health charity Chipmunka. They do have a web site and details of the book, including an extract from it and a bit of stuff about me is also on there.
The ISBN number is 9781847477606 .
There are reviews of Sour Face on
amazon.co.uk, blackwells on line and a number on Book Crossing.com. This is an internet book borrowing club.
Please use the blurb I've posted in my last message as my brain is just dead today, and can't think of anything new to say!
Thanks a lot Katie,
Please keep in touch,
Marix
Mari I can forward this information to ObjectActivist and UK Feminist Bloggers as well as blog about it on my blog and the Birmingham Fems blog. The Birmingham volunteering centre also has an independent book shop in it (I think that's what it is!), they might agree to stock it, can't find anything about it on the website but the contact details are on there -
bvsc.org
So can I just confirm the title of the book is Sour Face and it is by Mari Jayne Cox. Do you have an ISBN number at all? Always helpful! Also have you got a website about the book or do you just want people to email you? I wouldn't put your email address on the blog posts though, I would just say 'leave a comment if you want more details' and then give the email addresses of the commenters.
Oh also -
dvmemorial.wordpres s.com is a blog about the women (and children) who have lost their lives as a result of DV, I know the author (Stormcloud is what she used to go by) will want to know about this.
If you can give me a blurb from yourself (or I can just use the one below) - I will get posting. If anyone else has any links to other forums I would urge you to do the same!!
In solidarity, katie x

I am so frustrated with the library system!!!!
As you are aware I'm campaigning to get a copy of Sour face into every
library in the UK,thus allowing victims of domestic abuse descreet
access to information, without the knowledge of their perpetrator.
As we all know resources are very limited for victims of domestic
abuse. It makes me wonder if there is true in the saying knowledge is
power.Society seems to want to keep knowledge from victims and prevent
them from gaining in power and confidence.
The libraries are only allowed to purchase books off a list from an
approved library supplier. The books included on this list all come
from major publishing houses. They do not include books published by a
charity. It doesn't matter how good or unique the book is it's the
rules!
I've been told "off the record" that if a member of the public goes
into any library and asks for a book the library will get it,
and the
book will stay at the library for other people to borrow.
I am asking for help from every member of this group to get Sour Face
out into the library service.
Please tell anyone you know about the book and ask if they could help.
If anyone has links with other fem groups in the UK I would be grateful
for the details so I can ask them to help.
Thanks a lot,
Feel free to e mail me, It would be good to hear from you,
I'll keep every one updated with any progress.
