The pioneer #Ukenya Tv show is this Thursday 12th September 2013 on KTN, between 7am and 8am. It will be produced by Yvonne Okwara and hosted by Sophia Wanuna. The show is structured as a quiet social breakfast at a restaurant ... a concept adapted from 'The Cafe' of Al Jazeera. The idea will be to introduce the philosophy behind this initiative to the public; explain what we mean by #Ukenya from our different contexts; look at some of the discussions that have been held on the #Ukenya google group; and contextualize issues going on around us to see what role '#Ukenya/Kenyanness' plays/should play in how we engage in every day lives.
We have proposed that the discussants for this first show be Senator Martha Wanjira; Ramah Nyang and Ngunjiri Wambugu. The show will air live at 7am-8am in the morning, but thereafter it will be uploaded on social media and hopefully we can circulate it as widely as possible, to provoke discussions wherever Kenyans are found. We hope you are able to join us; which you can do easily by following the twitter handles and/or facebook contacts we will share shortly. KTN is planning to hold a similar show every week thereafter, for a while. We hope that we will be able to expand this discussion as wide as possible publicly, and have as many of us as possible appear as 'panelists' to share their views.
