Just to clarify Dr Wambui Waithaka is Treasurer of Doctors Union not Chairperson.

Guys,
I have been reflecting on Kenya @50. A usual thing for celebrations of this nature is to look back and reflect on the gains made and the failures. Whereas, it is good to reflect and celebrate achievements in the past, I am of the opinion we cannot be stuck in the past.

I am not sure how we can move forward when our eyes are fixed on the rear-view mirror. What if we started projecting forward? What would Kenya look like in 50yrs? What would the Kenyan socio-political and economic hegemony look like in 2063? Can we even think that far?

It is the people of Kenya that will define that Kenya in 2063. The vogue thing in the coming months will be doing a Top 50 at 50, or 50 Kenyan personalities that influenced the Kenya we have today. My father is 81 years old and tells me about the people who made Kenya, Kenya in business and commerce, politics, Academia, etc. I enjoy listening to the mzee's reflections. I asked him a question that I want to pose to you on this platform. Did you think those people then would change Kenya to what it was today? For some, he was not surprised how they turned out. Others were a big surprise. He did not see them coming.

I want to try something audacious, daring, so to speak. Identify 50 Kenyans 35yrs and below who we think (all things held constant) will realize this #Ukenya dream. Can we dare be prophets? These people will be in the following categories
1. Business, commerce and enterprise
2. Media, sports and the Arts
3. Education and Academia
4. Faith and Religion
5. Science and Technology
6. Politics, leadership and Governance

What do you think? Toa maoni,

Gowi
