This morning we had the 13th Show, & it was a different kind of show from the usual.

We had Mrs Florence Gichuhi (74), Mr Odinge Odera (82) and Prof Timothy Gatara (late 60s) taking us back to independence, as we discussed what Ukenya was at that time. It was a humbling experience and we will put up this link as soon as we can.

What were these Senior folks doing 50 yrs ago?

Mr Odinge (Pastor Gowi Odera's dad) was up a mountain on 12/12/1963, working at planting a flag to commemorate Kenya's independence. Prof Gatara (who incidentally ended up being Mrs Gichuhi's student at Pumwani Primary) was matching as a Boy Scout, at Uhuru Park on the same day. Mrs Gichuhi (Wakonyo Igeria's mum) was at University in San Francisco, where they scared the locals there by slaughtering a goat, to celebrate! I must come up with a plan to share of what I was doing on our 50th Anniversary :-)

The key message was how focused the first 8M Kenyans were, on building their country. Most were out there doing something, anything, for Kenya. I guess its what happened when you convert from being 'British Subjects' ... to 'Kenyan Citizens' by choice. Maybe the fact that most of Kenyan citizens were born Kenyan is what makes us take this identity so for granted!

Anyway .. the conversation continues.

Meanwhile, the 11th Show was a continuation of the focus on artistes, this time from the gospel fraternity. We had Njugush (Kubamba Tv), Juliani & Kambua. The 12th Show was a discussion on the role of the Opposition in building Ukenya, where we had Hon Isaac Mwaura & Hon Ken Okoth (nominated Mp & Kibra Mp respectively both from ODM), as well as Ronnie Osumba.

All this links coming up soon ...

Cheers.
