Hi,
I've just assembled my ukenbank-1 kit and it's great :)
But I'm using as a binary clock and I have a question...

My clock always resets if I turn it off. is this expected? or is there something I should check?
I'm asking 'cos I noticed that the RTC has a battery and I'm wondering if it should keep the current time.

best,

With the battery installed, it should keep time regardless of the power-on state. Since it is not, then either:
a) The battery is dead (or almost so), or not seated properly, or installed upside down; or
b) The RTC module is defective.

It is supposed to keep time even when the device is shut off.  Check the polarity of the battery, I have seen one where the battery was installed backwards.  The positive terminal should be closest to the female five-pin connector, and near the "+" indicator.  It is also possible that the RTC module is bad, I have seen that before too.  But typically if the Kenbak-1 is keeping the correct time while it is turned on, then the RTS is operating correctly.

So I suspect the battery is either backwards or dead.

Let me know what you find.  Sending another RTC module to Brazil would be kind of expensive, but I see they are available on Amazon.com.br, so if you have to get another one I can reimburse you for it.

Just for document here in forum (maybe would help another person in future).

I've checked the polarity and battery and both are good. Probably it's the RTC IC... and yeah don't worry about it... It's easy to get another in Brazil... I'll buy another and test it.

thanks
