I have been using a keylayout for many years, Russian-zh.keylayout.xml - it has been installed on my macbook since at least 2020. I had upgraded to every version since then, including Sonoma, and it has been working just fine.

I just did a clean install of Sonoma, and now the keylaout is not working. I have copied it to /Library/Keyboard Layouts, but it is not showing up under the list of languages when I try to add it in the keyboard settings. Please help.

The file extension should be just .keylayout or .bundle, nothing more.

Try also Home/Library/Keyboard Layouts

Also remember that the keyboard layout would be under “Others”, since it is not in a collection and has no language assigned to it.

Looks like the OS somehow renamed the extension to keylayout.xml - i renamed it back to just .keylaout and it is working fine now. Thanks for the help!
