Where is my bundle-file?

in 2022 I created a new .bundle and installed it on macOS.

Now I got a new Mac and would like to install this bundle on it.

Unfortunately, I cannot find it on my old Mac.

I can load it via load recent file using Ukulele, but I don't know the location.

If I remember correctly, the location was mentioned in the Installation Guide.

Now it isn't any more.

How can I find it on my old Mac?

If it installed, then it will be either in /Library/Keyboard Layouts (that is the Library folder at the top level of your start-up disk) or in ~/Library/Keyboard Layouts. The Library folder in your home directory is hidden by default, but you can get there by holding down the option key while selecting the Go menu in the Finder.

Apart from just searching for the file in the Finder (by hand, like John wrote, or with Spotlight/Sherlock) you could also:

1. Check that your layout is active, then use Ukelele to create a copy with the command 'New from current input source’

2. In Ukelele, open the Organiser and uninstall the keyboard layout by dragging it to the leftmost column.

That will move the file back to where you saved it when you created it.

Actually, this reminds me of a vague wish I’ve had for a long time: 

It would be nice if the Organiser would copy a layout file when installing it, as opposed to moving it.

I think this potentially leads to lots of logistic problems, and that’s why I never asked. But now seems to be the moment :-)

When uninstalling a layout, the Organiser would move the file into the trash/wastebasket, unless no file of the same name is found in the target folder.

An alternative would be to move the file back there as currently, but add "uninstalled 2025 01 11" to its file name,

Gé, this feature may be useful, of course, but I think implementing such new features, with all their consequences, may lead to exhausting John’s efforts to solving more important issues. 

As we, the old ones here, know very well, many questions are due to the fact that many new users do not have patience to either use the app for several hours or read the manual. 

Indeed, from a given moment on, the ~/Library (at the user level) became invisible, but it may be accessed via the Option-GO combination. 

It was revealed some time ago that the keylayouts installed at this (lower, user) level may put problems. I have no idea whether this old issue has been solved by Apple. But, as a rule of thumb, put them at the /Library level, that level did not and do not put any problems. Perhaps this should be the default location, not the user level. Frankly, I have never used the Organiser/Installer feature, I have always dragged my custom keylayouts to the /Library level via mouse, not via an installer. This said, I am not the best promoter of this feature, perhaps useful for many users.
