Hi Cole,

Keyboard layouts only define which characters are produced by, well, character keys.
The confusion arises from the fact that many commands are given by a "modifier key" (like Command) plus a character key – which outcome CAN be changed over keyboard layouts.
But other keys, like cursor keys, Tab, function keys, media keys, etc., etc., are not defined by keyboard layouts.

Anyway, the point is that, instead of Ukelele, you’ll need some other software that sits in the background and watches your keyboard strokes, jumping in to replace them as determined by an editable table.
Possibilities:
Better Touch Tool (https:// www.boastr.net/)
Karabiner (formerly KeyRemap4MacBook) (https://pqrs.org/osx/karabiner/)
DoubleCommand (http://doublecommand.sourceforge.net/).

This issue has become so often, that perhaps John may put it somewhere at the beginning of the manual.

Yes, Sorin, you’re right, only it’s there already :)

I copied the text about those three programs + links from there...

I once suggested John put it right on the download page, so people are more likely to see if what they are getting will fulfill their expectations.
