Hi,

I would like to add some letters to my default italian keyboard, but when I try to use the option "New From Current Input Source", which is Italian keyboard I get the following message: The file “Italian.keylayout” couldn’t be opened because there is no such file."

What can I do?

Use the Italian keyboard in the set of keyboards distributed with UKELELE, you will find it there.

Still strange, that error. Which macOS version do you have and which Ukelele version?

By the way, from the layouts in the Ukelele repository, "Italian Pro" is a QWERTY layout that seems to match the new "Italian" layout; the old "Italian" layout is now called "Italian QZERTY".

The error message means that the utility that converts the in-memory
format (uchr resource) to XML failed to produce a file, so Ukelele
couldn't open the file. Maybe I should find a way to improve that error
message.

I didn't succeeded to finde the Ukelele repository! Where is it?

I have it inside my Applications folder, but it’s so long ago that I don’t remember if that is created automatically during installation or if you have to drag it from the opened .dmg yourself.

@John: Just a layman’s attempt, please bear with me:

IF the command just issued is "New from current input source"

THEN set error message to "Sorry, an error occurred with the conversion routine. Please report this in the users group, mentioning “Italian” and “macOS 12.6”."

ELSE set error message to "Sorry, the Finder couldn’t find the file “Italian.keylayout”."

ENDIF

I think that auto-correct has made a mess of this! It is on the disk
image from which you install Ukelele, in the folder Resources.
