HiThis is a quick email to let you know that 548 delegates have come to our Essential Supervision Skills course so far.And its why this British Psychological Society Approved course is running again on 2-3 June in London and 4-5 June in ManchesterIf you’re interested in a place however you will have to be quick. If you’ve already come and found it invaluable please forward this email urgently to a colleague to let them know.If you haven’t, read on, find out what you’ve been missing and then decideMuch to our surprise, this course has been unprecedentedly popular Why?Maybe it’s because it’s the only national non-university course providing eligibility for the BPS’ Register of Applied Psychology SupervisorsHave a look at the evidence:Maybe it’s the early bird price. £230 for two days providing nationally recognised training. That is rare.Maybe it’s because the course gives you clear, informed advice about what to do as a supervisor and how to do it – irrespective of your professional backgroundOr maybe it’s simply the glowing feedback we receive. Below is a small selection of recent examples“Thanks. Never realised that this subject could be both fun and informed. Well done Paul” S.T. Counselling Psychologist Leeds“There are so many supervision myths around. The section on the research was particularly useful.” D.C. Occupational Therapist Cheshire“I learnt more from these two days than I have from 12years of practice. I don’t know whether this is good or bad but it’s certainly been really insightful” D.F. Psychotherapist Islington“The pair work kept the days fresh…so it wasn’t just theoretical. Very practical and will send more staff next time” S.F. Substance Misuse Service Manager West MidlandsThere is a problem with the course though. And that’s the fact that numbers we can take are genuinely limited. Every date its run this year so far its been full and why April is already chocka –The same is likely to go for the new June dates. When the places on these are gone, they’re goneSo book a place book now. Don’t leave it.I know you won’t be disappointedYou’ll be joining a growing group of supervisors who’ve worked with us. And like them, you’ll become more confident and more knowledgeable in your role as a supervisor.
Kind Regards
Paul

Hi Courtenay
I think it’s a great idea… it would be easy to contact the lead for the course you link to and ask what numbers he’d require to run an equivalent in Scotland and scope out if that sounded feasible. I guess the link to BPS may attract some and put others off – but sharing the advert with colleagues may well result in enough to make it worthwhile. The feedback looks very positive, and I like the idea of a few days training without having to commit finance and time to a PGCert/MSc which would be the usual route,
Perhaps those attending the meeting in Perth in a few weeks can gain a sense of whether this would be something to pursue… or if there’s a clamour via this group we can just email Paul Graham direct and get it moving ;)
Liz

Hi Everyone
This is clearly a bit of marketing aimed primarily at chartered psychologists. When we meet in Perth, we could agree to find out what opportunities there are for education and training that meet the UKCP standards. The UKCP colleges have now got their agreed requirements for approved supervisors, including training standards.
I believe that there is a particular interest in opportunities for meeting CPD requirements. Perhaps a few members would volunteer to develop a database for this.
Regards
Alastair
