Hi all,

The NTD Summit kicks off today in Geneva, Switzerland – and partners are taking to social media to celebrate. Here’s a snapshot of the incredible activity and coverage we’ve seen thus far:

?         10+ articles on the UK’s commitment to double funding for NTDs, including in The GuardianBBC News and The IndependentClick here to tweet a graphic that thanks DFID for its generous contribution to fight NTDs.

?         The Financial Times published a special series on NTDs to coincide with the opening of the summit. The series features a range of disease and country-specific reports, including onchocerciasis in Ghana and leprosy in India, along with an op-ed from WHO Director-General Dr. Margaret Chan.

?         A giant inflatable worm in Lake Geneva to mark the launch of the Global Schistosomiasis Alliance’s #MakingSchistory campaign – an effort to highlight progress against schistosomiasis, a parasitic worm disease that causes intestinal damage. Click here to retweet Merck’s photo of “Wormzilla.”

?         In NYC, a Pfizer video and window installation on partnerships to beat trachoma, the leading infectious cause of blindness. Click here to tweet about how they’re raising awareness on trachoma.

There’s much more to come. Tomorrow, the WHO will host its Global Partners Meeting on NTDs, which will include the launch of WHO’s Fourth Report on NTDs. Afterwards, an evening reception hosted by Uniting to Combat NTDs will honor women’s contributions to the global NTD effort.

But you don’t have to wait until then – here’s how to join the #beatNTDs conversation right now:

?         Tweet Uniting’s graphic on the Women in Focus Awards: Women play a vital role in defeating NTDs. Check out their inspiring work to #beatNTDs: http://bit.ly/2okN3Em pic.twitter.com/MCYMKozmio

?         Tweet the digital version of the WHO’s Gallery of Success, a poster exhibit on NTD progress that will be featured during tomorrow’s partners meeting: Amazing @WHO gallery shows the reach and impact of NTD programs around the world: http://bit.ly/2o9vMvz Check it out! #BeatNTDs

?         Tweet Uniting’s GIF on partnerships to beat NTDs: In 2012, a group of ambitious partners joined together to sign the London Declaration and work to #beatNTDs. pic.twitter.com/y93xR7I0yr

?         Tweet this GIF on NTD drug donationsDrug donations change lives. #beatNTDs #NTDSummit17 pic.twitter.com/FSkatZbMlT

Make sure to check out the NTD Resource Hub (password: globalhealth2017) for everything you need to participate. We’ll be posting new content all week, so feel free to share additional materials as they become available.

Best,
Aanjalie
