Our friend White Van Man is in the news again. But is he being wrongly
accused of aggressive driving? I think there may be a simpler explanation -
many of them simply can't properly see where they're going or what's
happening around them.
After all, when was the last time you saw a male van driver aged between 20
and 40 wearing glasses(not counting sunglasses)?
Bespectacled van drivers certainly exist - I'm pretty sure I saw one once,
but they're rarer than hens' teeth.
Is this because
a) van drivers' eyesight is better than that of the population as a whole,
b) they never visit an optician,
c) they wear contacts if any sight correction is required, or,
d) they're too vain to wear glasses?

Any ideas?

Nope. Nothing to do with eyesight. Vans (particularly Trannies) ought to
be researched, because simply getting into one brings on a whole new
outlook, matched (I would guess) only by putting on battle armour, and
getting on a good charger.

Try hiring a Transit and driving up and down Park Lane. Best fun to be had
on four wheels!

I drove a van for a tyre and exhaust delivery company over the summer. If I
faffed about with the flow of traffic I got home at 7pm after a hard day. If
I took the initiative and got on with it, I would save between 2 and 3 hours
working time *per day*.

Hope this explains my behaviour (m'lud <g>) and if you where cut up by a
yellow Merc Sprinter between Liverpool and Southport last summer then I'm sorry
but I was just doing my job.

The majority of car drivers see a van and expect some incredibly bad piece of
driving, or as happened a few times, intentionally get in the way. The biggest
crime of all though, is overtaking a van on the inside. He cant see you - so
dont stay there for long or he'll have your wing :)

e) they can't see through the crap on their windscreens. (Usually got
"clean me" scrawled on the glass)
