A583 - heading towards Preston - NEW camera right at the Abacus garage!
- This is one of the new ones recently installed - comes complete with
flouro coating, which blends in nicely with the petrol station signs!

Speed Limit: 30
NEW camera on the 583 - heading out of Blackpool on Preston new road,
new camera right at the premium bonds place, just at the turning into
mere side

Greenway Road, Rumney area of Cardiff
Speed Limit: 30
Major access road for many locals. Not always easy to spot the cameras
in this area of Cardiff because many of the streets are tree lined.

Greenway Road, St Mellons, Cardiff
Speed Limit: 30
All too easy to be travelling too fast along this stretch of road,
because even though its a residential area, the road is quite wide and
open.

B4487 Newport Road, Rumney area of Cardiff
Speed Limit: 30
Cameras on BOTH sides of the road at this point. Can be very awkward
when travelling towards Cardiff City Centre, as you are travelling
downhill, trying to keep your speed down. Always see local cars braking
on this hill, as the approach to the camera is covered by a tree

Lamby Way, Cardiff
Speed Limit: 30
Location in a lay-by near Lamby Way Landfill site (right next to where
there is a change between 30 and 40 mph).

A1232, Colchester
Speed Limit: 30
New GATSO camera on Ipswich rd hidden behind tree just pass uplands
drive/opp post office travelling north out of town and 2 new GATSO's,
one opposite the Esso garage and one about 200metres down towards the
town, on other side of the road.

A133, Cowdray avenue, Colchester
Speed Limit: 40
From Ipswich road roundabout. Down the hill behind a tree on the left
hand bend

B1393, Thornwood
Speed Limit: 40
One of the first static cameras recently installed to be coloured
orange. Not switched on yet as the white lines have not been painted
yet. Camera is facing towards Epping from Harlow

A47, Leicester
Speed Limit: 30
New speed camera operational 08/04/02 on Uppingham Road between
trocadero petrol station and traffic lights on Colchester road (church)

A38, Dartbridge
Speed Limit: 70
Mobile patrol hidden behind the trees on the slip road onto the
northbound A38 at the
Dartbridge junction, turning for Totnes/Dartington/Buckfastleigh.
Thursday is a favourite day. They ARE NOT always visible!!

A16, West Deeping
Speed Limit: 60
A static camera heading from west deeping east bound towards market
deeping just after the lay-by but hidden on a bend (its not switched on
yet????) Reported by: CBR6

A6 Preston
Speed Limit: 30
New camera just installed on A6 coming into Preston from Walton Le Dale.
Brand new in its bright yellow livery this is the SECOND camera on this
road. not to be confused with the one that has been near the Capitol
centre for a few years now. everyone speeds up the hill here ....not any
more

A19, Easingwold
Speed Limit: 60
Coming from Thirsk towards York, about a mile from the roundabout at the
edge of the Easingwold by-pass there is a farm gate on the right hand
side. the cops wait in there with a laser, they get a good view up
towards Thirsk but not good enough, when they lasered me I'd seen them
long in advance and backed down from 110 to 47, they looked gutted!!

This seems to be the (or _a_) new standard colour.

What colour would you like them to be?

The new colour schemes not only blend in with temporary road signs, but
choices of how they are painted does break up their outline making them more
difficult to spot.
They were easier to spot when they were all "road sign grey."

They should all be solid luminous pink, both pole and camera.

Irredescent purple. The united colors of Benneton one is quite nice.
Go a lovely blue sheene to it.

*Very* busy. They also cut our news feed to UKRM. Fortunatly as I have
now discovered the feed cut is only one way so I'm suck in write only
mode :-)

GSX actaully stopped rattling for a couple of months, then started
again last week, but very quietly (its due for tappets and oil change
though). Small allen key shoved up the back of the cam chain tensioner
fixed it first time. JPs idea of removal and cleaning was OK, but the
fsker would not come off. The local dealer, Redcar, suggested strech
the spring a bit, then replace the tensioner if that doesn't help.

I'm planning another MRO for the end of May if you are interested.
Howard Swift should be back in too (with his nice VFR).

I'm trying to work out how I can either a)save up for an SV650 or b)
save for for an Mz thumper. I've decided that I'm a bit bored of the
GSX, mostly becuase I find inline 4's soulless. I barely get to ride
the bike ATM (even to the stage of just contemplating selling it). I
very rarely do more than 70mph so something with a bit more stomp and
character would suit me (but is insurable too). Well I've got a tenner
saved up, just 3985 to go :-)

Hmm, I've almost finished the SZR which is the same 660cc engine on a
different (and better) chassis. I may be tempted to sell it on at a
price that's right if you're interested.

Its all too tempting.... though ATM it depends on how right the price
is IYSWIM.

SWMBO's car has just started p!ssing petrol out the carb (hopefully)
so that could be either a clean up again or strip down & rebuild of
the carb. Of course opening up a 20 year old carb for the first time
is not something I'm looking forward to.

It appears they aren't.

I don't believe its an anti-car conspiracy but if it were they couldn't have
planned it better if they tried.
At the moment there are all sorts of colors, various ways of painting them
etc.
As well as that you ask the highway agency to paint it a conspicuous
colour - hey presto they use the paint they have a job lot of - making them
the same colour as 1000 other bits of roadside visual noise.

Its like in fairy tales when you get three wishes.

Best thing to do is buy a black rolls-royce, tint the windows
black and take off the number plates. Drive a fast as you like.
If you get stopped by the police, just say "F**k off mate

Not yet live. Also Surrey only owns two cameras and employs only one
