Does anyone know if there is a ferry service between the Taychreggan
Hotel on the west side and Portsonachan Hotel on the east side of Loch
Awe in Scotland. This would be at the end of the B845(west) to B840 .
Any clues or even telephone number of one of hotels.

Geoffrey Hamer's 'Trip Out' reports an operator on loch Awe called Dalriada
Steam Packet Company, tel no 01838 200440. It is stated that they operate
cruises on the Loch - no mention of a ferry service, but they could no
doubt tell you what is what.

Maybe a rowing boat, certainly no passenger service.
The last boat built for Loch Awe, COUNTESS OF BREDALBANE was broken up last
week at Balloch on Loch Lomond to clear the slipway for the restoration of
the paddle steamer MAID OF THE LOCH.
The Dalriada company runs from Loch Awe station at the top of the loch.]

The Taychreggan Hotel (tel 01866 833211) will hire out small boats to guests
on a day basis, but there is no ferry service across Loch Awe to Port
Sonachan. The last ferry here ran about 100 years ago.

The Portsonachan Hotel can be contacted at 01866 833224.
