I have come by way of a GS HT801 which I would like to use on another
VoIP provider.

Unfortunately the device I have is on Vonage. Does anyone know a
reliable way to unlock it? I have two smaller D-Link units on Vonage
that I have unlocked but I cannot remember how I did it!

Can you access their webpage?

Can you reset it?

I have managed to use the IVR to reset the IP addresses, but I can still
only get in at the basic settings level using the web interface. It
looks as though the unit have been locked by a local service provider
(i.e. Vonage) so that the reset button only restarts the unit. As I can
only do a restart I cannot change the admin password and it won't accept
the default.

Help?

Did you press it for multiple seconds like the instruction tells?
Have you checked if there is a way to load firmware via TFTP (I dunno
if that device supports it, you have to check the manual).

It's been a while. I think the trick is to reset the HT801 while it's on
a network with no access to the Internet, so it can't reload the vendor's
config.
You can then login with the default credentials and clear the vendor's
setup (Advanced Settings, Firmware Upgrade and Provisioning).

Or, better still, under Basic Settings, down at the bottom of the page
change the Reset Type to Full Reset (on my 1.0.29.8 firmware the reset
options are ISP Data Reset, VOIP Data Reset, and Full Reset).
