Voip talk has a crafty price scheme. They advertise 1.4p, and a £5
minimum top up, but when you pay they add on £1 VAT. So they are
actually charging 1.68p including VAT, and a £5 top up costs £6
including VAT. It's a good quality sound though.

I was under the impression that it was a legal requirement for UK
sellers to indicate whether or not prices include VAT.

It does say in the samall print

"All call tariff pricing is exclusive of VAT"
and the call credit says
"£6.00 inc. VAT"

It is, and since they're a B2B seller they are allowed to list the prices
excluding VAT:

Calls made via any of the Betaxmax brands have just got cheaper - since

Same at the Cash and Carry, but they are selling to business, who can reclaim the VAT if registered.

They do. They never charged VAT as part of the call prices, but you paid it
at topup time.

I just tried Dialcheap and a $25 topup is $30.95 including fees.
If the 'fees' are $0.95 the rest is 20% VAT.
