Hi,
I have a need to record some of my calls, can anyone recommend any good
apps for doing this? I have tried, and discarded, one that claimed to
do it, although it recorded before the call was connected it stopped
soon afterwards!

Any ideas?

Yes get a Nokia - built in voice recorder. Includes any call going on.

Even my 1990's Motorola could do this (but only for four minutes, but useful
for directions etc.)

No doubt apple will [over] charge you for a suitable app.

Apps get frozen and put into the background when a call comes in -
therefore without jailbreaking your iPhone, I very much expect it is not
possible.

It seems to be a thankless task looking for a recording app. Apple did
not want to be associated with wire taps and have made it all but
impossible. Some of the US apps appear to do it via the telco, but not
a lot that will work in the UK. There appears to be a method using
conference calling and getting a 3rd party to do the recording, but that
is too complicated to set up for my purpose.

Any way it is all history now. I modified an old BT butt with an audio
take off and used it in monitor mode on a landline. Worked a treat,
once I ran the lap top off batteries and not its PSU.

Oh yes, my old Nokia does it a piece of cake, I knew it was a good idea
to keep it.
