I have a BT Mobile contract from Carphone Warehouse which has been
going for 9 months. I want to cancel it and take the number elsewhere.

I pay £20 per month but get a plan that would "normally" cost £28 per
month.

I expected to have to pay 3 months x £20 to get out but BT want me to
pay 3 months x £28 PLUS 9 months x £8.

I can't find any reference to having to pay the "full" rental for the
remaining months as well as the supposed monthly saving from the last 9
months in their terms and conditions. I'd just leave it but I want to
take the number to another network.

Has anyone any experience of leaving BT Mobile?

Yeah mine was actually a good experience. We got 2 phones last year when BT
Mobile where doing a £5 per month offer. We got the phones and never
actually used the sims. Last month I phoned them to cancel 3 months early
and expected to pay for the 3 months.

The man simply took the numbers and said they would be disconnected within a
few hours. A few days later we received a final bill but it was only for
that month. They didn't charge us for the remainder of the contract :)

We got ours directly from the BT website so don't know if that makes a
difference.

I haven't cancelled yet, but I did downgrade to BT Standard (£12.50 p.m.)
after 6 months. For some reason, they
are still applying the BT 150+ special offer discount, and charging only
around £3 a month... wonder if they'll notice
some time!

Same here! Had that for one month so far, will see if they keep it up
for the rest of the contract :)
