Orange UMA

Am I right in thinking that if I buy a UMA capable handset on Orange I can
connect, via Wi-Fi, and make calls and send texts without having to pay
anything extra, or get anything activated on my account?

Any experiences of this technology - is it reliable?

In my experience, yes.

Though calls are still charged as if you've made them on-net.

It's as reliable as your broadband.

Hi

I've used UMA successfully both for myself and my customers (using
either Nokia 6301 or most 2g blackberries)

All I've needed to do is look for wifi networks then input my network
key.

If I go abroad with a UMA handset and connect using a local wi-fi
network and 'UMA' is displayed (on Blackberry) will I be making calls/
texts using my allowance rather than at roaming rates? Will the
service work abroad at all?
