ISTR you cannot do this yourself, you have to phone Virgin and ask them to
switch off the auto divert to voicemail. When this is done, if you know your
own voicemail number you can then use the call divert menu on your phone to
divert calls to your voicemail number when off / unavailable etc.
Hope this helps ...

call the team on 789 - they gave me some code or something. It didn't work
thats why I didn't remember what it was. Hopefully it should work ok for
you.
Just leave a message on your voicemail sorry I can't take your call please
text me goodbye and leave a silence - no one will hang on for the beep.
(although I have every confidence that virgin will sort it out but if they
don't - and what about the hassle turning it back on if you have hassle
turning it off)

Virgin Mobile does not support call divert, except to voicemail, so your
list of codes is unfortunately of no use to the OP.
To the OP, if 'cancel all diverts' from the handset menu doesn't work you
will have to call Virgin customer service and have them remove the service
for you.

Try ##002# and then press send/call/green button - this is the "Cancel all
diverts" which has the effect of sending the following three commands:
##61# - cancel divert if not answered
##62# - cancel divert if out of reach
##67# - cancel divert on busy
(The *#6x# commands query the diverts if you can't be bothered with the
phone menus)
If voicemail is still active then you have to call Virgin CS and ask them
to turn off the default divert to voicemail. They can and will do this. If
they don't understand, tell them (in writing if necessary) that you will be
roaming and will not accept liability for any calls diverted to Voicemail
as they will not let you cancel the diverts. You shouldn't have to go this
far though. My children have Virgin PAYG SIMs and their diverts were
cancelled no problem.
