Had two unsolicited texts in Oct, claiming to be from "CCTMobile"

"T-Mobile New eBay store - Pay as You Go Sim inc a 5 credit for only
99p - click http://goo.gl/xSlgr for all our offers opt out text optout
to 60777 Ts&Cs apply"

and

"Today is the last chance for New iPhone 'Double Gig' T-Mobile Offer at
Chitter Chatter - 64GB for the same price as 32GB & 32GB for the same
price as 16GB all with unlimited calls, texts and data - Call
02036574840 and quote 'Double Gig'. To opt out text optout to 60777
Ts&Cs apply"

I did something I usually don't do, and sent an opt-out text back to the
short code specified, and now find I get billed for the privilege (as
it's "Services from other companies" / "Outside allowance".)

So I get an unsolicited text, and I have to pay to opt out.
I hope the little urchins don't try sending any more spam SMS, cos
they'll find out what it'll cost them...

Forward spam texts, unaltered, to 7726. It's a free number set up by the
service providers (I get an autoreply acknowledgement from O2) and they
check them out. Hopefully, if enough of us send every spam text on to
them, many more spammers will be heavily fined - as was mentioned in
another reply to you.

The original number is not forwarded - don't forget to add it to
the text.

It is 87726 on Vodafone and 37726 on 3.

Personally I am skeptical that the providers will do anything with
this data.

You can report them to the ICO for all the good that does.

Don't opt out unless you signed up in the first place.

Because they will then know your number is live and sell it to other
spammers.

Best option is to forward to SPAM on your phone.

That's my thought as well. When the networks were advertising it they
didn't advise anyone to include the number it came from, just told
us to forward it.

Whether you do or don't add the number, probably just goes into a black
hole I reckon.

They will know it's live by looking at the delivery reports.
