Phil's posted the URLs but let me add my 2p worth
As far as I can see in general old prefixes will just have a 7 inserted
after the first 0 (e.g. 0410 - 07410, 0963 = 07963)
Dual numbering is scheduled to start mid 1999 and should continue for around
18 months
Hints are that SOME networks will start the dual numbering this coming
January
CS reps of most networks still say 'what renumbering' if questioned about it
all and generally can't be relied on to give sensible answers

Wrong! All mobiles will start 077, 078 or 079, to correct your example,
0410 will become 07710.

Some do, many don't.

Fat lot of use that URL was. Cable & Wireless (whose page it is) report for
EVERY one of my mobile numbers "Current OFTEL plans for the UK national code
change do not include this number"
There are distinct groups of numbers merely taking a single digit (0860 =
07860, 0973 = 07973) so as well as being wrong I was also right, in part.
Peter put it better "some do, some don't"
Tony is, of course, absolutely right if you remember that many numbers will
ony need a single digit addition of 7 after the 0 whilst others will require
the 7 plus another, higher, digit to replace their original second digit
And I'm sure the original poster is now suitably confused <g>
There's a far better web page detailing the code changes out there but for
the meantime I've misplaced the URL
It would be interesting to know which ones you tried as common ones like 0831,
0836, 0410, etc etc give back the correct new numbers.
Is anyone actually igving out their 07956 numbers now?
LB
I didn't try 0831 or 0836
I tried 0410, 0411, 0973, 0860 and got no joy so I then gave up
Interesting you got 0410 to work though and I didn't. Maybe a server glitch
Not a good idea yet, as some business pabx's will not have been programmed to
allow certain numbers and some networks *might* not be billing correctly.
Both One2One and Orange numbers can now be dialled with either old or new
code but other codes don't work yet as the migration isn't due for parallel
running until late next year [around Sept time I think]. I know a lot of
newer mobiles are being given the new ranges like 07775, 07899, etc but you
can't change things like 0370 to 07770 yet !

Not yet for 0973 on Orange, that's for certain!

Have you tried it as I'm sure it works. 07973 instead of 0973, but like I said
in an earlier post some 'phone systems aren't allowing these new codes yet.
07973 isn't even recognised by the _Orange_ network yet,
let alone any others!
You get the "number not in use" message FWIW.

Dave Gill Thanks to {R} for the nospam address...

Wel 07976 doesn't work yet. I've just tried!

Yes, I have tried it, and no it doesn't work. Orange don't even "own"
that dialling code yet: it is just "reserved".

That doesn't mean that Orange have, does it?
BTW, your quoting is upside down

Like 20% of this n.g. (from a quick sample) :-|
