Newbie question

I used to have an Alcatel mobile, which had intuitive operation, but I
have now got a Nokia 2720 Flip. I am not used to the OS it uses, KaiOS.
The manual says that to add a contact, I should press the Scroll
button and choose the correct option from those offered, but 95% of the
time that I press the Scroll button, I get the d.....d Google
Assistant, which I would love to shoot if I knew how. When I do
finally get to the Settings menu, it's nothing like what is shown in the
manual.
What do I need to do? I have looked for help, but it all assumes that
you know your way around the 'phone, and I don't, I'm still trying to
find my way.
Any help very welcome.

Nokia claim to have a 2x7 chat support line, maybe they can talk you through
adding a contact?
