Better yes, but still not really up to the quality I'm looking for, any
other suggestions - also the 7600 is just plain ugly.

Yeah i got one of those, it has a VGA camera as opposed to the cif
camera in the 7250i
It is better quality but takes a LOT of getting used to!
Lee
I dont think you will get any better than VGA without breaking the bank
mate. You looking for specifically Nokia or any brand?? The 7610 has a
1mp camera but it may break the bank also the 6630 has a 1.3mp camera

what about the SE camera phones especially the K700i at around £150
SIM free and can do 1280 x 960 = 1.2 megapixel

I would prefer a Nokia to be honest, I feel at home with them, but I'd be
willing to try out other brands.
The camera is just for personal use, nothing too demanding, it's just that
I'm sick of the crap quality of the 7250i.
No, the 1280x960 image is just enlarged by software interpolation from the
640x480 image- the phone takes a 640x480 image and then stretches it, its
just like clicking resize in photoshop.
Alex
Is there a website available that compares different phone cam images?,
preferably pictures taken by joe public not the manufacturers 'typical
examples'. :)
Is 640 x 480 the highest available on the market today?, to be honest VGA is
fine for what I need, but I want something that produces a clearer brighter
image, all camera shots I've seen seem to have a yellowy blurred appearance.
#I was aware of that its just that the k700i does it in camera without
messing with other add on software. its still one of the highest res
commonly available at 640 x 480 camera phones

I always feel that a camera in a phone is okay for an "emergency" - or
if you want to document something. If you want a camera, then get a
5mp camera!

Find yourself a Sagem my-x6 or my-x7.

www.unlockingshop.co.uk
SonyEricsson K700i unlock/unbrand - £22.50
Nokia 7600 Factory re-setting - £10
New LG / Sharp / VK / Sendo / Motorola phones added to the range
I've had Sagems in the past, with Sagems I get very poor reception in my
area regardless of network provider.
The next Nokia out on 3 should be the 6630, 1.3 MB camera,
with hopefully loads of Hutchinson subsidy, and being Nokia
easy unlockable and maybe resetable too?

Now have a Sony Ericsson K700i and am happy with the camera. It's 1280x960
.. but isn't a true 1.2Mpixel camera as it takes a VGA picture 640x480 and
digitally enhances it.
That's plenty good enough though, and is better than every phone I've seen.
My g/f has the 6230 - this is also good, but slightly worse ...
Good things about the K700i.
Bluetooth
Video camera
Picture size comes in (160x120, 320x240, 640x480, 1280x960)
You can digitallyzoom in 2x with 320x240 and 4x with 160x120 and 2x with
video camera
It has a night mode - quite good
But, for 'face shots' it has a VERY bright light (like a flash which you
turn on and off) so you can take good photos even in pitch black or a
pub.club
Picture quality can be adjusted too
Effects that are not much use: Black + White, Negative, Sepia, Solarize
Effect that is useful: Panorama - you can take 3 photo's to get a panormaic
view that has a view finder to help you line things up
For a cameraphone, get one of these and you wont be disappointed - post here
if you wanna screen shot
For everyone who says buy a real digital camera - I use the digital phone
camera as it is with me all day. Carry a camera around everywhere is not
practical. But having a phone for "fun snaps". I don;t take photography
seriously, but a "look at this car", or "look at my mate Dave" kinda picture
is perfect on the phone.
