I have an unlocked Nokia 6124, which is a Vodafone badged version of
the 6120. For two weeks I have been running Skype with a 3 Mobile pay
as you go sim card in it. Suddenly last weekend the skype stopped
signing in. Every time I try to start skype, it just stays on the
signing in screen with the bar moving but never actually finishes the
process. On one occasion I left it trying for a couple of hours but
when I got back to it, the handset was quite warm and the newly
recharged battery was down to less than half charge.
The guy on the 3 help line said it is not a fault on their system and
as I didn't buy the handset from them he couldn't help me further.
I tried re-installing Skype twice, but the problem is still there.
Internet browsing works fine, as does Windows Live Messenger.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
KC

If you are using a Skype app for a Symbian 60 phone then you are
using data at the standard or add on package rate.
Have you run out of data credit??

I went to the Skype section of the 3mobile site and downloaded the
Skype for a 6120 because they didn't have the 6124 listed. It DID work
perfectly for at least 2 weeks without using any of my data allowance.
It only stopped signing in last sunday.
On the my3 section where we can check data usage, it says I have not
used any internet data outside my allowance, and that I still have
140mb of usage remaining plus a balance of 7.92.

All I can think of is to delete the 6120 Skype app and re-install it

Already tried that twice, but I do have some further information which
may help. This morning I created a second Skype account with a new
username and that logged in perfectly on my mobile. As my original u/n
still works OK on my home PC, then Skype couldn't have blocked it, so
therefore it must be 3 mobile for some reason blocking it, and I can
only assume they will also eventually block my new one.

Interesting piece of information that, one wonders what 3 have to
gain by blocking a Skype account when you can simply create a
fresh one. Just a thought, were there any non alpha-numeric characters
in the username or password?

There were two - in the u/n and ( ) in the PW
but I did try changing the PW of the original account and it still
refused to sign in.
My problem is I have so many skype contacts that it would be a
nightmare to inform all of them about a change of u/n, especially some
of the less frequent visitors. However, if the u/n IS the problem, I
will have to do it.

Thanks

I just realised, both my skype IDs have two - in them,
ie: something-in-something
and something-in-somethingelse
So it can't be the minus signs, and when I temporarily changed my
password to something without (brackets), that didn't work either.
Back to the drawing board.
My son suggested that somewhere in my handset memory, the skype
account details would be stored, but I couldn't find any mention of
Skype in any of the three memories.

Thanks
KC
