Hi all,

Apart from the iPhone are there any other PAYG deals with always-on 3g?

My daughter wants a phone for her birthday and will mainly use it for
texting/MSM/FaceBook & some Spotify (I realise there aren't that many
mobile clients for this).

Her ideal phone would be (my) Android G1 but the cost of an 18 month
contract is more than we are willing to spend, as is an iPhone.

TIA

I have a SIM only "contract" with O2. The "unlimited" data bolt-on part of
it costs me 7.50 a month. (and I just need the basic tenner for calls &
txts myself) But you need a phone for that - I have an E90 and I moved
to sim only when the contract period was up.

Might be something to look at if you already have the phone, although I
think the TXT limit is only 100 a month on that deal - that might only
be enough for about one day for the average teenager ;-)

Three PAYG's Internet addons (not Mobile Broadband, that's for laptops) at a
fiver a month. You do have to buy one each month, but they send you a text
to say your current addon is expiring. I think you get 2GB to use within
that month, so it's not unlimited.

If you have a data bundle, consider using a Java app for sending texts (Vyke
is one, no experience though) as they're more like 1p/2p than Three Flat12's
12p each. Or there are some text bundles on Three. Calls at 12p/min are
the best, but could be worse.

No need to pay extra. 3pay (three's PAYG tariff) gets you free texts and internet (150mb) when you top up.

3g internet is always on unless you turn it off on any 3g phone,
leaving it on will flatten the battery quicker

Three's INQ1 on 3 payg for 69.99 is a good deal for a social phone
http://threestore.three.co.uk/payg/dealsummary.aspx?id=1402&offercode=DSL0PP002

Add 5 quid a month for internet bolt on, anthough Three's new payg tariff
includes 150mb of data for every 10 quid top up valid for 90 days

Don't know if spotify is an application available for it?
the rest you list are

You can also use the phone as a HSDPA 3g modem connected
to a laptop or PC
