Has anyone here seen Vander Bin/Routerdude recently, or have a recent email
address for him?

Cheers, Arc

I also posted a "where's Vander Bin (AKA routerdude)?" a couple of months
ago, and never got a reply from him.
Hope he's OK!

I have a sneaking suspicion that his new e-mail is dig...@btopenworld.com

He has been selling 5861's in lots of 10 on E-Bay for quite some time now at
a bargain price of £79.99

regards

Great, thanks - i will try him on that.
The reason is that i bought a 5861 from him a while ago and wanted to ask
him a couple of things about it.

Thanks again, Arc

Good idea :P

Ok well as you know, I have a 5861 (non BT) from Vander, and I am with Pipex
DSL (Home version).

Recently, every few days, the internet slows down to sub-modem speeds, and
then stops working at all, however, the router is still synced with the
exchange according to the LED on the router. Pipex say it isn't their
problem, as it isn't losing sync, and I have tried it with another 5861, and
it seems to be fine, so I think it is a problem with my router.

Any ideas on what it could be/how I could fix it?

Cheers guys, Arc

So it looks like the router ;) are the configuration of both of them the
same?
It may be as well to do a factory reset on the one that's causing problems
then reconfigure it again, this would then (probably) rule out any
software/configuration issues.

Try SYNC then MSFS which will test the file system for errors.

Mark,
I emailed that address and had a reply, saying that it wasn't him so I guess
it isn't unless he is hiding from me for some reason :P

Cheers, Arc

eusty,
Cannot try either of those things yet, as it isn't on site atm, but I will
try it soon and report the results. Cheers! Arc

Perhaps he is hiding for some reason (or he has smoked too much dope and
paranoia has got the better of him), the reason I say that is because I
spoke to somebody this morning who bought one of the routers advertised on
E-Bay and it was posted from the same town as where RouterDude used to post
his from.

Ok thanks. I admit - that is good evidence, but if he denies it is him,
unfortuneately I can't accuse him of lying about his identity :P

Oh well I have been running the router for a while after giving it time to
settle down, and it seems to be okay for now - hopefully it will stay good
from now on.

Cheers everyone!
