Had a few probs with our ADSL today:

Tracing route to dsl-212-135-222-162.dsl.easynet.co.uk [212.135.222.162]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 121 ms 153 ms 134 ms tele-25.access.demon.net [194.159.254.25]
2 152 ms 140 ms 140 ms tele-core-1-fxp3.router.demon.net
[194.159.254.1
00]
3 160 ms 160 ms 140 ms tele-border-12-168.router.demon.net
[194.159.36.
212]
4 158 ms 160 ms 160 ms fa0-1-0.linx0.thlon.router.easynet.net
[195.66.2
24.43]
5 178 ms 160 ms 159 ms fa3-0-0.core1.thlon.router.easynet.net
[195.40.0
.142]
6 436 ms 132 ms 126 ms
p111.atm0-0-0.core1.44whit.router.easynet.net [2
12.212.0.14]
7 146 ms 160 ms 160 ms fa2-0-0.core2.44whit.router.easynet.net
[195.40.
1.7]
8 * * * Request timed out.
9 * 366 ms * fe0-1-0.core3.44whit.router.easynet.net
[212.134
.10.14]
10 * 206 ms 160 ms bt-dsl1.core.44whit.router.easynet.net
[212.134.
10.3]
11 158 ms 220 ms 160 ms fe0-1-0.core3.44whit.router.easynet.net
[212.134
.10.14]

and then 9-10 just repeat over and over.

Surely this mean two routers have decided to only route to each other? Does
this mean something is really messed up somewhere, or it is just a case of
sit tight and wait :-) (story of ADSL really!!)

Cheers
John

This just means your EasyDSL router isn't logged in yet. Try clicking on
'connect' on the routers local web page. If this doesn't work, try the
above after a power cycle.

In this case it meant that there was an outage of a major 'fat-pipe'
somewhere in BT. Have a look in easynet.support for what little extra
info we have on this.

Easynet regularly has problems with their routers. if you use mtr (linux
program) you'll notice that they get 25-30% packet loss quite regularly
