I have been given a Broadcom DSL / Cable router, model DSLIAD-BC1B-2DB3,
which apperas to be working ok, but it would be nice to get hold of some
specs, and in particular any details about using it as a USB print server.

I have had a look around the internet and the Broadcom web site, and
cant see anything. In fact, I only found out that it was a Broadcom
product by logging in to it, as theres no marking on the thing to
indicate the maker.

Any ideas ?

My experience with using the USB connector of a router as a print server
is that they usually don't work. I think the limitation is often that
the printer manufacturer does not understand how to drive it via TCP/IP.

However you can try:

1. Connect the printer to the PC and get it working according the the
manufacturer's instructions.

2. Plug printer into router.

3. In Printer Properties for the printer you had working in step 1, go
to "Ports", choose "Add Port", specify "Standard TCP/IP Port" and
provide the IP address of the router. Use the manufacturer's
recommended settings for the port (Raw/LPR, Queue name, etc.).

It might work ...

Broadcom make chips but they don't, as far as I know, make boxes.
Searching on that model number comes up with exactly one hit:

Does it happen to look like this?

This 'lever' type buttons on the side, the U/N and P/W both admin, and
made in China makes me think this may possibly be of Huawei origin.

it looks very similar, but not identical (there are no "Phone" LEDs on
the front of mine)

there are a couple of lever type buttons on the side, marked WPS and WLAN
