For the last couple of days I have been trying (without much success) to get
a definitive answer on how BT's Datastream service works (as opposed to IP
Stream).
Could some kind soul give me a rundown on the differences (pro's & con's) of
Datastream vs IP Stream?
The few sites that I have found that descibe Datastream lead me to believe
that satellite is involved somewhere along the lines. If so, would I be
correct in thinking that ADSL that is delivered via Datastream is actually
being transmitted through a satellite at some stage of it's journey?

TIA

Dave

It's nothing to do with satellite. If you want descriptions of IPStream
and DataStream services, see the BT SINs at http://www.sinet.bt.com/

For example, see SIN386, SIN388, SIN374, SIN347

DataStream handsover to the service provider is at the ATM layer (rather
than IP or L2TP used in DataStream). With DataStream, the service
provider has dedicated VPs from the DSLAMs - hence the ability to offer
different contention levels to those in IPStream.
