Is it a Netgear? Open your internet browser and enter 192.168.0.1 into
where you type URLs. Assuming you haven't changed it, enter 'admin' for
the username and password. You'll get a status screen, scroll down to
the 'LAN Port' section and the MAC address is there.
Sorry, can't help if it's not the Netgear router...
Are you trying to simply log in to the web interface or obtain the adsl
username & password?
If the latter, and you have a DG834GT, this
<http://www.asininemonkey.com/netgear-dg834gt-hacking.html> worked well
for me - scroll down to URL Injection
None of 'em. You don't need the MAC to connect to either your or another
router however. What do you think you need it for exactly?
Clue: he is trying to get the router password.
Clue: he is using a password generator
The MAC address is one of the inputs to the password generator...I
guess. (and it is, I checked...)

Use the BIG mirror service in the UK:
http://www.mirrorservice.org
Start -> Run
Type cmd and hit enter.
A black box should come up.
Type arp -a
This gives a list of MAC addresses one of which should be your
router.

Have you got into the router config area?
The sky routers used to have "admin" as user and "sky" as password.
or it could have been "sky" "sky" as user and password I have killed
so many brain cells this Christmas so its not clear.
If you do get into the router you can save/backup your current
router settings to somewhere like desktop then open the file with
notepad and filter out your user name & password from the text.
this could be done with the netgear DG834 but I am not sure about
the newer versions.
You'd be far better off, if you've already got the new router, to use
it as an access point....if you can stand another wall wart plugged in,
that is.
Alternatively, rather than buy a new router that would, if configured
to work with Sky BB, breach their Ts & Cs and leave you with the
prospect of losing your service, why not buy a wireless access point?
in vista, how do you get a shell?
type cmd in the search box

How would they know?

I see. Assuming he has permission to access the router, what's wrong
with either a) asking the owner for the password or b) pressing the
reset button?
Same way you do in other versions of windows.
I suspect only Sky know the password! And they probably have formware
that disables the usual reset (or it would wipe out too much).
I remember being given two used BT routers a while ago, and the MAC
address was on a convenient label. I needed that to type into an online
password generator.
I'll put him out of his misery...
The long way round (and the way you can leave a shortcut on the desktop
if you right-click on the following and go via the 'Send-to' menu) is
'All Programs/Accessories/'Command Prompt' - the Vista equivalent is
very similar.

Well I had to use vista the other day, and I couldn't find Start->Run.
Didn't exist.
The thing to do is start from a terminal window, and then type "cmd" and
press enter.

For no sensible reason, MS renamed it to "search" or something moronic.
Basically type a programme name in the search box and it'll run it if it
finds it. Styoooooooooopid.
I'm waiting for Windows 7 servicepack4 which looks like this apparently

It is there, but the Vista default is for it not to be displayed.
To turn it on right click on the taskbar, properties, start menu,
customise and select "Run command".
"Run" now appears as the bottom item on the start menu.

The From address is valid
Sorry I thought it was a Netgear one which Sky did use.
