I know that BT and other ISPs are now starting to take orders for
straight HH-ADSL conversions, with the guarantee they will leave you
with your HH installation if the ADSL install fails.
I can't seem to get a straight answer as to how much this costs. Is it
still the standard £150, or do you have to pay the £50 HH disconnect fee
on top?
Can anyone who's actually had it done please post how much they paid.

I had the conversion done and it cost the £150 install fee. Of course
you have to have had HH for the minimum contract period, if not you
will be charged for the remainder of the contract by BT.

I thought (my brincell says so anyways) that they were to be able to
disconect and add on your existing time with HH to your ADSL, this HH get's
it's months/fees upto date, BTO would get it's fees upto date, and there
would be more cash in the kitty (except for the fact of call charges...)

Well I've now been told that "officially", you are charged 150 for the
ADSL install, plus another 99 quid for the disconnection of HH! This 99
quid charge appears on your next bill.
Are you sure you weren't charged this £99? If so, can you let me know
which ISP this was and how on earth you wangled it?

Well this is from the letter we had to sign that BT sent us prior to
the change over:
"If you are within a contracted term (eg in a 1, 3 or 5 year contract)
for your Home Highway service termination charges will apply and an
invoice for the remainder of your contract term will be raised on your
next telephone bill".
It does go on later to say "connection charges will also be raised
for your new exchange line, an invoice for the remainder of your
contracted term will normally be raised on your next telephone bill
unless you have any special arrangement with your service provider."
So no mention of £99 for disconnection, but it mentions raising the
charge for a new line, but as far as I am aware we have not recieved
anything yet from BT on that part. We pay monthly to BT and my wife
goes through the BT bill making sure we haven't been overcharged, me I
just look to see if we are still in credit :-)
It mentions a web site might help a bit,
http://www.bt.com/isdn/faqs/faqsfrm.htm
Gerry
Just to add to my post.
I just trawled through that website and finally found the cost. It
says if you have NEVER had a BT line it is £99. So I cannot see how
they can charge for a conversion as the line is already there.
Yes, £0 as I had pre-registered.

£0 as you had pre-registered and were signing up with BTOW.
If you'd gone with any other ISP, it would have cost you £275.
And this is what Oftel call fair competition in the broadband
marketplace? What a f***ing joke.
