I'm trying to figure out how BT socket, Cat 5e, ADSL, structured
cabling and patch panels all fit together.

Here is the story - and questions. Long - but I'm a bit confused so
thought I'd try to spellit out.

One phone line comes into house.
BT master socket breaks it into ADSL and phone.
I want to break in into a data hub and 4 phone extensions on one phone
line.

Here I go...

I use cable (cat5e?) with male RJ45 at both ends and connect the ADSL
to my ADSL modem/router/hub

I connect ADSL/router/hub with CAT5e cable (male RJ45 at hub end) to
wall sockets with RJ45 female socket)

I connect computer to wall with RJ45 male ends at both ends.
That I think I understand.

But phone is throwing me. Will have 4 room phones all on same number
connecting via a phone patch panel.
Back to master socket.

I use cable with a BT phone end into phone (not adsl) on master
socket. (Do i need a microfilter here? I assume it is already split at
this point) and then use a BT-to-RJ45 adapter on the other end to
connect to RJ45 socket in phone patch panel.

I connect 4 CAT5e cables with RJ45 plugs to other side of phone patch
panel. Question - what creates the onnection from those 4 to the
single incoming line?

The at the room end - are there modules?? that have CAT5e coming in
and BT phone socket to plug into? I'd rather not have to have a
BT-to-RJ45 adapter dangling at each phone.

Please feel freee to correct/add or point me in the proper direction.

OK here goes

ADSL first

from faceplate :- RJ11 ->RJ45 through structured cabling then RJ45 -> RJ11
lead to router ,Best get one with combined switch if you haven't got one yet
then patch out to PCs.

Phone.

Make sure patch panel for correct pairs paralleled then just get BT -> RJ45
through cabling to patch panel and then connect up to required points.

If you need any leads let me know as I can supply these.

Does this mean that a separate cable for ADSL has to be run from the BT
Master Socket?

I'm shortly going to install Broadband and have run a further phone sokcet
into a newly refurbished room, expecting to use it for BB later. Should I
have waited, to put in a specific ADSL cable?

Just my luck if that was necessary!

No, you sign up to wires-only and put micro-filters on every phone. You
can plug your modem into any phone socket.
