I got the same error as well, but inputting only the postcode came back
saying my exchange is enabled.
><sigh> And BT are apparently slightly ahead of schedule by installing ADSL
into its 1000's exchange. If so does this >mean all exchanges in the roll
out to the end of the month are now actually enabled ??
Well, theres no sure way to tell unless BT say it is. I know my exchange is
enabled because there were a few Fijitsu vans there last week, but others
could be behind schedule.

Hmmm...
Those mouse over events on the massive buttons on the front page
manage to make ADSL look slow...

Snap, it says I can get ADSL with just my postcode (?)

Well I am never near my exchange to see what is going on. I suppose I could phone them directly.
Already sent an email to BTOpenworld saying they can reaction my order :)
This error seems to have been corrected - my phone number now works.
Probably just Day 1 problems or something.

Well BT seem to have enabled all the exchanges due "at the end of June
2001" over the first weekend in July...all together! It's as if they
threw a master switch! Suddenly, everyone who had been getting "not
enabled" messages started getting "enabled" messages from
http://www.bt.com/broadband availability checker.
Everyone who tried to sign up after June 30th with ISPs who use the
bt "postcode" checker appear to have had successful installations on
the "new" exchanges (subject to line tests). These ISPs include
claranet and others smaller/better/more expensive (than FS/Openwoe).
Freeserve and openwoe seem to use a different availability checker and
it took them over a month to catch up, meanwhile they would not take
your order. Expect something similar this time (unless they've changed
to more uptodate availability checkers).

BT Ignite have an interesting view of the towns and cities in Suffolk -
check out their availability map for this county!
