Rather than using filters at my new ADSL install, I thought I'd just replace
the standard BT faceplate with my spare BT 'ADSL V1.0'; when I took my
current NTE5 off I expected to see spare Blue, Orange & White wires for me
to connect to pins 2 3 & 5 respectively. However the Blue wire is already
screwed into another pin behind the wall-mounting - do I just connect the
remaining two wires to the ADSL pins, or is this not as simple as I thought
???!

If your nte is fed from an underground cable then there will be (usually) a
blue wire and a white wire connected to the screw terminals at the back,
could this be the blue wire you see?

The wire colours which attach to the front plate shouldnšt be blue, orange
and white in any case. They would be blue/white, white/blue and
orange/white. If the extension wiring is old the they might be blue, orange
and brown.
