Stupid(?) questions about ISDN

If I have a BT-provided ISDN link, can I route calls through OneTel or
one of the other virtual telecom providers to reduce call charges?
If that's possible, would I be able to do it with a bonded (128k)
connection?
Are there any ISPs who provide especially bad or especially good ISDN
packages?

Several.
1) ISDN2e is ISDN only i.e. you need a terminal adaptor or router with
terminal adaptor if you want any analogue phones whereas Highway provides
analogue outputs as well as ISDN - i.e. has TA built in.
2) ISDN2e is a business grade service and has SLA for that purpose plus
helpline for more hours if there are faults. There is another option
called Business Highway which is Home Highway technology plus a business
level service and extra facilities as below.
3) ISDN2e and Business Highway can have MSN (multiple subscriber numbering)
which allows you to have more phone numbers associated with the line and
which you can direct to e.g. direct ISDN extensions,faxes or an ISDN PABX.
Useful if you have a business or work from home but the call volume is low.
Up tp 10 numbers can be allocated. There are a couple more less important
extra facilties.
Take a look at some of the bundled tariffs that BT are offering which
include ISP and local calls off peak as part of the line rental.

Another question, I'm afraid... is an ISDN connection that originates in
my house flexible in where it terminates - that is, can I dial to
anywhere else that has ISDN equipment (ie any ISP, subject to paying
them), or is it only defined between me and the specific ISP with whom
it's first set up?
Would I - say - be able to dial directly to someone-else's home network
if they also had ISDN connectivity, in the same sort of way that I could
do that with a modem?

Yes, you can dial anywhere.

Yes you can. However, if you go for one of the bundled deals from BT,
only nominated ISPs are included for the special call tariffs.
