Can I use my non BT broadband to send SMTP to my btinternet addresses.
Using Outlook Express 6 and choosing 'My server requires authentication' and
using POP3 logon
don't help. Any ideas please.

You should use your current ISPs smtp server to send to your BTinternet
address. Any reason why you don't want to do it this way?

Unless they support authenticated relaying, chances are you can only collect
POP3 mail..use your broadband ISP to deliver SMTP mail..

Have a look at www.myrealbox.com

They do an SMTP server you could use.

Why not run your own smtp server?

Claranet provide email, with SMTP authentication for £9.99 a year, so you
can send from anywhere. Other ISPs provide similar services. See
http://www.uk.clara.net/btbroadband/ for details.

You could run your own server, I use Argosoft - www.argosoft.com but make
sure you know what you're doing and you check to make sure you aren't an
open relay.

Hello sticky neighbour:-)

John, my own BTconnect account continues to allow me to [quite
appropriately] use SMTP. I post with Forté Agent... you ought to be able
to tweak OE similarly. Drop by anytime [call first to ensure I'll be in].

best wishes, Robert
