Hi

I've just set up a small Local Area Network. 2 PC's on W2K and a Mac on OS9.
The frog is connected to one of the PC's (router machine). That PC is
connected to a D-link DFE-905DX 10/100 hub. The hub connects to the other PC
and the Mac. I'm trying to enable ICS on the router machine in Dial-up
connection Properties. I got a Windows System Error: The system has detected
an IP address conflict. What have I done wrong?

If you are using ICS on the Windoze machine to priovide DHCP make sure
that the other machines are set up to get their IP addresses from the
DHCP server. Alternatively disable DHCP and set up each with its own IP
address manually, eg. 10.0.1.2, 10.0.1.3 etc.

It sound like somewhere in your network you have a network card with the IP
address already set at 192.168.0.1. This is the address that the ICS sets
the card on the internal link on the "router" computer to.

Have you setup ICS on one of the other machines in the past? You'll need to
make sure that the two clients are set to DHCP so that the clients get given
an IP address from the host machine. In order for the clients to be given
an IP address from the host machine you'll need to boot up the host machine
first.

How do you have the IP set for the PC's and Mac in the TCP/IP properties? It
should be "obtain automatically". If you have hard coded the IP, you have
two with the same address. Remember, the ICS comp will always be 192.168.0.1
with subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

Thanks very much..yes the IP was hard coded instead of 'obtain
automatically'. ICS now working perfectly.
