Hey, I bought one of these from dabs - and on the firmware page an update
has appeared

http://www.actiontecsupport.com/broadband/0/R1524SU/

my current firmware is 1.0.0.51.13-R1524SU-1

but when I try to upgrade it says "product type mismatched: the firmware is
not for your device!".

Anyone had any success with upgrading this? I'd really love to get it
working so I can use voice communications and send files over messenger.

So I found an update at

it updated fine - and worked fine.. but then when i changed my settings and
rebooted it - it never came back.

can anyone recommend a dsl wireless router?

I just spoke to someone at ActionTec about this, and they told me the new
code needs the new revision of router that comes with 16Meg of RAM, so (as
you seem to have found out), I'm not sure it will work :/

Sorry I didn't find out before you tried :)

If you talk to ActionTec support you should be able to get a recovery image
that will bring the box back to life.

If it has been totally flatterned, make sure the router is set to VPI/VCI
0/38 (go to http://<router_ip>/dsl_setup.html and check in there.

my new one came today so i'm not that bothered - this one is much better -
and it looks cool!

I think it probably was a problem with the dsl settings on the old one
because everything else seemed to work fine - I'll keep it as a back up
anyway!

thanks for your help
