Freeserve has announced that it will take
online orders for its FreeservePlus - Home
service from 4 September 2000. Pre-registration
is possible.

Hi all, what are peoples feelings about this?
To me £39.99 is a bit steep concidering Telewest has just dropped there
Blueyonder service from £50 to £33 per month.

Although they are different in that ones ADSL and ones cable, there both
essentially high speed - always on internet access.

Ive been waiting a long time for Freeserve to release this service and am
very disapointed that they are unable to truely compete.

Paul.

£39.99 is about as cheap as you will get for ADSL.

I wouldn't use freeserve for broadband quite simply because they will always
have a huge number of customers, personally I'm going to try to get IFB's
service, although Timewarp's StaticIP provision is tempting.

What do you expect them to do subsidise the service?

The best they can reasonably do is sell at the price BT charges
them.

I see what your saying. But it seems pointless to me to start offering
exactly the same service at exactly the same price as an existing company.

Paul.

Because Freeserve dont want to lose the customer base they have to
BTopenworld and others probably.

Having the option of upgrading your freeserve account to a Freeserve
ADSL account if you are a very heavy user is a good idea avoids having
to change email address's etc.

The future of unmetered access lies in DSL and CableModems, especially
given the problems that unmetered access is generating with dial-up
modems.
