Well, I think that a full snip is appropriate!

Any certified qualification is better than none.
The higher the academic level, the further theory differs from
practice.
It takes at least 10 years of practical experience to realise this.

Don't quote one example to prove a point.
Have a look at "Nodding Donkeys",
(http://homepages.tesco.net/P.R.Higginson) and read a more balanced
critique of engineers.
