Cost of prepayment electricity, especially payback

With a UK key-operated electricity prepayment meter (that's all I know
of the system involved), approximately :

(1) How does the cost of electricity compare with that for a
normal billed system?

(2) What is the effective interest rate when the meter is set to
take extra money to recover arrears?

Exact figures are not needed; just a ball-park to be used to evaluate
possible courses of action and urgency.
