I've just moved into a house with an DA systems Abacus 6r alarm.
I'm struggling to set it up as I don't have a manual or the engineers
code. Can anyone help !

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Call your local NACOSS Alarm Co. and keep us all in a work.

Why would you need the engineers code, you only need the master code you
obtained when you bought the house. The default code for DA Abacus panels is
7890 so its worth a try. The 6R is a good system, I have a 8R in the house
and cant fault it. The only way you can get round the lost code is to
default the panel back to factory settings. I'll dig out the engineers
manual and get the info.

To difficult to do on net panel is nasty even to industry.

I have to disagree there, I spent the last 10 years installing the "nasty"
stuff from DA without a problem.

Good all round ease of installation, 2,3 or 4 wire configuration of zones
got me out of the sh*t many times when 2 extra cores are needed. Not a
single problem or comeback, I have one in my home. Even the wife can use it
without a hitch, now that says something.

Dont like the led keypads though...

I agree, whilst we predominantly install Menvier, when we have used Abacus
we have had no problems whatsoever.

There is an option to perform a hard reset on the Abacus 8 panel, achieved Follow these simple steps:

Power down, both mains and battery, re-apply mains only and within 6 seconds of the of the following display appearing, press the NO, YES/PART, NO, YES/PART Keys.

After restarting the panel can be defaulted.

Here's an extract of the steps after restarting as set out above.

Press the 2 key and the display will change to: The version of software is displayed on power up, if no command is made, after initial checks and a watchdog (reset) have been carried out the system will go to the day mode.

If language --- is not displayed, shortly after power up the Default command was not seen within the time window. Power down and repeat as above.

If the NO key is pressed, the language used may be changed on some panels.

Press 0/ESC key to escape to the day mode. Press the YES/PART key to enter the default programming.

At this menu, you have a choice to default all programming back to factory default or just the Master code to 1234 and Engineer code to 7890.

If 1 = Codes is selected, Master (code 1 only) and Engineer codes only are defaulted all other codes and programming remain as programmed, accept for the time.

See menu on LCD display for menu option relating to above steps.

Hope this helps...
