I'm probably going to buy a second-hand set (1-3 years old) as no one seems
to stock large screen CTVs anymore (it's all plasma and LCD).
I thought the choice of model would be quite easy, until I saw how many
different models Sony produce. I found 18 different 32" widescreen model
numbers before I stopped counting.
KV-32LS60TNS, KLVL32M1S1, KD-32DX40(S), KV-32FX66TNS, KD-32DX100(S),
KV-32FQ75(S), KD-32DX40(S), KV-32FQ70U, KD-32NX100(S), KD-32DX150U,
KV-32FX68U, KV-32LS36U, KV-32NX200U, etc., etc, ad nauseam. Some are
Trinitron, some Wega.
Can anyone shed any light on the codings? KV vs KD for example? DX, FX, FQ,
NX, M1, what's that all about?
Unfortunately Sony's website doesn't seem to give tech info on non-current
models.
Basically, what model(s) should I shortlist?
Thanks,

K seems to be Konstant.
KDs are all digital but not all digitals are KD.
32 is screen size.
DX and DL are digital.
LS is the more basic range but LS60 is good (100Hz) LS35 is 50Hz
FX is mid-range
FQ is high end 100Hz
NX is a digital mid-high range
U at the end is UK model.
Numbers after DX etc don't mean that much but are model numbers/revisions.
Triniton is tube type, all Sony CRTs will be Triniton
Wega is a nonsense label like Bravia - there is a Russian radio manufacturer
called Vega - I think most CRTs by Sony are called Wega

Thanks Stuart (and Housetrained) for the info.
Perhaps the KV-32FQ75 (or FQ80) is the one to go for.
